ONTONAGON, Mich. — Phyliss Rose Tulppo, 96, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in Ontonagon, at the Aspirus Long Term Care Facility.

Phyliss was born in Suring, Wis., to the late Albert and Rose Allie on July 28, 1922. She was raised in Paulding, Michigan and attended the Ewen schools, graduating in 1939. After graduating she moved to Detroit and worked in a bakery.

The couple operated the business for over 60 years, employing several hundred employees throughout that time.

In her younger years, Phyliss enjoyed spending time at camp and traveling. She was also well known for her baking skills and for being a hard worker. She liked to bowl and was an avid gardener.

Phyliss was a charter member of the Bruce Crossing V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary.

The couple had two children, Christine and Greg. Orville preceded Phyliss in death in 1994.

Surviving are daughter Christine Hubbard, Bruce Crossing; Greg Tulppo (Becca), Bruce Crossing; grandchildren Victoria Tulppo, Blake Tulppo, Craig Britton, Tim Britton, Janice Huhtala, Shana Kopsi; great-grandchildren Andrew, Alex, Ellie, Rachelle, Emily, Meg, Isabelle, Allie, Savannah and Natalie.
