Louis B. Chouinard

MINOCQUA, Wis. - Louis B. (Bubsy) Chouinard, 89, of Minocqua, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2019.

Lou was born on Sept. 4, 1929, in Ironwood, to Louis and Arley Chouinard. He attended Bessemer Township Schools and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1947. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After specialized training, he served in Japan until 1950.

In August of 1952, he married Dorothy J. Johnson of Bessemer. They lived on the north side of Chicago until the fall of 1958 when they built a house in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

After the passing of his wife in 2009, Lou moved to Minocqua in late 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jean, Arley May and Virginia Bee.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Ann (Ray) Peterson; and his three children, Louis E. (Vicki) of Minneapolis, Minn., Jeri (Scott) Ekman of Bessemer Mich., and Bonnie (Paul) Swetland of Woodstock, Ill. He had three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Michelle (Theodore) Augustyniak, Landon and Fahlyn; Joy (Benjamin) Randall–Schuh, Kellan and Weston; and Jody (Jeffrey) Yowell, Blake and Nora.

At Lou's request, no services are planned. Lou's family would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff at Gogebic Medical Care Facility and Regional Hospice Services for the outstanding professional and compassionate care they provided.
