Ironwood - The organizers of the Superior Riders' annual lighted bike parade are inviting the public to come out both to participate and watch this year's ride.

The parade starts at 8 p.m. Friday in front of Cold Iron Brewing on Lowell Street and will travel a little over 3 miles through the city.

"We tried to put it down a bunch of streets this year so people can hopefully come out and watch, see what it looks like," said Sam Davey, one of the organizers.

This is the third year the Superior Riders have held the parade, which Davey said is open to everyone.

People can be as creative as they want when decorating their bikes, according to Davey, with many people buying battery powered lights from Walmart or tying glow sticks to the bikes.

"Use your imagination, you can do anything you want," he said.

There may be prizes for the top three most lighted bikes, Davey said.

The group generally rides together through the parade route, either single-file or in pairs.

Although they may do a couple more rides depending on the weather, the lighted parade is generally the culmination of the Superior Riders season

Even if people don't want to participate in the parade, Davey invited them to come out and watch as it passes through town.

"That's what we're hoping, just to see if we can get people to come see it. I know everybody that participates has a great time, I mean it's a blast," Davey said. "It would be kind of cool if you had a bunch of people come out cheering for (the riders)."
