Arthur Johnson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Arthur Johnson, 89, of Bessemer, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, in Ironwood.

Art was born in Bessemer on Aug. 27, 1930, to Walter and Norma (Moroni) Johnson. He attended local schools graduating from A.D. Johnson High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1959 as a clerk at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, earning his honorable discharge in 1959. Upon returning from the service, Art was employed at Range Beverage in Hurley, Wis., as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1974.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Norman and Lloyd Johnson; and sister, Louise.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Patrick, Timothy, Michael, James, Jere and Robert Johnson, Deborah Schulze, Michele May and Robyn Mize; and special friend, Greg Pisani of Ironwood.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Sept. 23, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, at 1 p.m. Full military honors will be accorded by the Bessemer VFW Post 3673 Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bessemer.
