Lawrence 'Larry' John Zani

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Lawrence 'Larry' John Zani, 65, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully, in his home, on Oct. 7, 2019.

Larry was born May 12, 1954, in Ironwood, the son of Richard and Ruth (Palosaari) Zani. In 1972, he graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood; and in 1976, he graduated from Northland College, in Ashland, Wis., with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.

On July 7, 1979, he married Patricia A. Gurske of Gile, Wis.

Larry proudly served in the United States Army. He was also very proud to be a volunteer driver for the Disabled American Veteran's van. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

Throughout his life, he had many jobs including teaching in North Dakota, substitute teaching, insurance sales, chairlift operator, and others. He loved his and Patty's dogs, Benji and Lizzy. He also loved fishing on the Gile Flowage, trivia, history, and Sudoku puzzles.

He is survived by his sister, Luann (John) Benetti of Rothschild, Wis .; aunt, Polly (Eugene) Zani; as well as brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Patty; his father, Richard; and his mother, Ruth.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.

The family would like to thank the Oscar G. Johnson Veteran's Hospital in Iron Mountain and Aspirus Home Health Care in Ironwood, for their excellent medical care.

Larry is now together again with Patty, the love of his life. He will truly be missed in this world.
