HURLEY, Wis. — The Hurley School District hired staff and faculty following a special School Board meeting on Monday.

Following an executive session to discuss personnel information the school board accepted the resignation of part time school office secretary Holly Swartz, and hired Stephanie Gwyn for the position.

The board then hired Cole Kivisto as a substitute teacher; Louis Laguna as a substitute custodian, and Randy King as a volunteer coach.

The special meeting was required to fill the secretarial vacancy that would be vacant prior to the next regular meeting, said Kevin Genisot, school administrator and special education director.

“Our current secretary is done working this week and we needed to attempt to find a replacement as soon as possible,” he said.

The next regular meeting of the Hurley School Board is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Hurley K-12 library room, 5503 W. Range View Dr.

Action items on the agenda include purchasing authority and governing rules policies; school administer authority for hiring part time workers and approving volunteers and substitutes; the school’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning bid and contract; the results of Wisconsin Department of Education testing; and the Kid’s Club substitute and volunteer positions.
