BESSEMER, Mich. - Karen Renee Jager, 57, of Bessemer, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Renee was born on Feb. 17, 1962, in Wakefield, a daughter of Bernard L. and Karen Rachel (Grinivic) Pedrin. She grew up in Wakefield in a loving family along with her three sisters and a brother.

On Aug. 31, 2002, Renee was united in marriage to Charles Edward Jager.

Renee worked as a waitress, certified nursing assistant and mental health employee until she owned and operated her own restaurant, Ma's Place, in Wakefield. Renee had numerous accomplishments in her life, and one of her proudest achievements was receiving her commercial driver's license for truck driving. She retired due to health concerns.

Renee's life was about living life to its fullest. She just loved life. Renee was all about taking care of others, especially her treasured family. She loved to make us laugh with her quick wit and quirky sense of humor. Renee loved spending time with everyone, especially her precious grandchildren.

Renee was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed football in general. She had fun playing canasta and going to the casino.

Renee is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; a son, Anthony Sean Scott Matthews (Emily), Spokane, Wash .; a daughter, Kaitlyn Marie Grizzle (Philip), Ramsay; seven cherished grandchildren, Madilynn, Tristan, Aidan, Eirelynn, McKinley, Melody and Brady; her father, Bernard Pedrin; three sisters, Margie Charbarneau, Donna Pedrin and Sandra (Frank) Romanowski; a brother, Brian (Carrie) Pedrin; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends; and her faithful dog, Bo.

She was predeceased by her mother, Karen Pedrin, on Nov. 11, 2010; her grandparents; many aunts and uncles; and her best friend, Pamela Ozzello.

At Renee's request, cremation has taken place.

There will be a graveside service in the spring.

A special note to Renee: Your laughter and love will always be part of us. Be at peace and know that someday we will all be together again. We love you!
