KENOSHA, Wis. - On Jan. 1, 2020, Shawn R. Truax, 45, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Shawn was born July 6, 1974, in Kenosha, Wis.

He attended Bain Elementary, Bullen Middle School and Bradford Hugh school where he graduated in 1992. Shawn was a skilled roofer all his life.

Shawn loved the Green Bay Packers, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and had a huge love for the Northwoods. Shawn hiked and camped his favorite spot, the Porcupine Mountains, every chance he got.

Shawn was friends with everyone he met, he was a kind, loving man, and would help anyone he could. He had a passion for life, helping, healing and was a great cannabis advocate, grower and caregiver.

Most of all, Shawn loved his family. He was a loving father, along with Mandy (Johnson) Truax to Kaylynn (Craig) Collins, Natalee Truax and Logan Truax, and special father to Alexyss Fanke. He was a supportive stepfather to Danyel (Lucky) Depetro and Aaron Erickson. He was a caring grandpa to Jayce Collins, Jayda Collins, Raelynn Fanke, Brookyln Depetro, Liam Depetro and Zachery Depetro.

He was a respected brother to Mark (Donna) Truax and Clint (Stephanie) Truax.

Shawn was a devoted uncle to Hayley Truax, and a beloved nephew and cousin to several aunts, uncles and cousins. Shawn was a beloved son to Ronald Truax and reunited at death with his loving mother, Linda Truax.

Shawn was also a caring and dedicated husband to Robin Wilson Truax. "I love you to the moon and back."

Shawn will forever be in our hearts, and his energy will be with us everywhere, all the time. He is greatly missed but wanted everyone to "Just smile when you hear his name and remember the good times. Be kind and keep going!"

A special memorial benefit will take place Friday, Jan. 10, at the Krash Inn, Hurley, Wis. All welcome. Come celebrate the love and life of Shawn Truax.
