PENCE, Wis. — Loretta H. Laguna, 86, a lifelong a resident of Pence passed away on Jan. 9, 2020, at her home in Pence.
Loretta was born on Feb. 19, 1933, in Pence, daughter of Louis and Frieda (Magni) Morgando. She attended Hurley schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1951.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the S & L. Store in Ironwood, Iron County Lumber and Fuel in Hurley, the Post Office in Pence and the Hurley Senior Center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley. She loved sewing and spending time at the cottage at Island Lake.
On April 27, 1957, Loretta married Lawrence L. Laguna at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pence. He survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ted, Louis, Bill, Wally and a baby brother in infancy; sisters, Dorothy and Florence; and brothers-in-law, Dennis DeRosso, Emilio Morello and Joe Gulan.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Lawrence; sisters, Louise Morgando and Irene DeRosso both of Hurley; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pat Morgando of Hurley, Louis “Cookie” (Colleen) Laguna of Montreal, Alfred “Bucky” (Barbara) Laguna of Pence and Marge Berry (Charles) of Shorterville, Ala .; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley at 11 a.m. with Fr. Frank Kordek OFM as celebrant, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will be held following the Mass in the church hall.
Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hurley in the spring.
