APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - It is with great sadness that the family of William Wesley Lindstrom of White Pine, Mich., announces his passing in Apache Junction, Ariz. on Jan. 11, 2020, at the age of 84.
William was born in Chassell, Mich., in June of 1935. He graduated from Hancock High School in 1953 with the nickname Lanka. He was in Naval Reserve until he was drafted into the Army in 1958 where he was stationed in Whittier, Ala.
William worked many years at the White Pine Copper Mine as a driller blaster and in the power plant. William enjoyed piloting his own Cessna airplanes, snowmobiling, camping, family and friends. He was a member of the Copper Jets snowmobile club and the White Pine Lions Club.
William will be lovingly remembered by his family and wife of 61 years, Audry (Uhlig) Lindstrom. William is survived by his wife, Audry; his two sisters, Betty (Lindstrom) Kempainen, her husband Alvin and their three children Janet (Dan O'Brien), Ann (William Willmer) and Alan (Meg); and youngest sister Evelyn (Lindstrom) Puuri and their two children Jeff (Julie) and Jill (Billy Sparks).
He is also survived by his niece, Denise Wood and Joann Wood. He is survived by his brother-in-law, William Uhlig and his wife Lynda and their two children Dana (Deepankar Pant) and Debra (Jason Dunn). William leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by his parents, Toivo and Elma (Juntunen) Lindstrom; his brother, John Lindstrom; his sister, Elaine (Lindstrom) Wood and her husband Stan Wood and their two children Cheryl and Michael Wood; and a brother-in-law, Carl Puuri.
Funeral services will follow in the spring in Ontonagon, Mich., arranged by Cane Funeral Home.
