Racers take to Wolverine for 8th annual Yooperbeiner

Competitors take off from the starting line to kick off this year's Yooperbeiner at Wolverine Ski Trails on Saturday morning. This year there were over 90 participants.

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - The eighth annual Yooperbeiner snowshoe race/walk was held Saturday at the Wolverine Nordic Ski Trails.

Prior to the race, lead organizer Sue Spaete said the kids races - which started at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning - followed a course that looped back around and ended at the starting line.

The kids were divided into age groups, which included: the Pups, for kids 3 and under; Kits, for kids from four to six years in age; Cubs, which were seven to nine years in age; and the oldest group were the Wolverines, age ten to twelve.
