Elerine Florence (Chartier) Bruneau

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Elerine Florence (Chartier) Bruneau, 89, a lifelong resident of Hurley, Wisconsin, passed away on Feb. 18, 2020, in Ironwood,

She was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Ironwood, daughter of Benjamin and Elerine (Landry) Chartier. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. One short year later after being chased by the love of her life, she married Robert Bruneau Sr. on July 9, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by the Rev. Lewandowski. Robert preceded her in death on March 30, 2000.

Elerine had many wonderful experiences in life including working as a clerk at Ben Franklin in Hurley, as a caterer and a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn; but most of all, she enjoyed being a wonderful mother and even better grandmother. She was a very caring person and had a heart of gold. She had many hobbies that including camping, fishing and spending time cooking for her family. She often spoke of her love for her dog, Trixie, a Boston Terrier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Elerine Chartier; her husband, Robert; brothers, Roland and William Chartier; and sister, Lois Lewinski; and her son-in-law, Guy Fleming.

Elerine is survived by her sons, Robert Jr. (Joanne) of Hurley, Wisconsin, and Ronald (Marty) of Whitehall, Wisconsin; daughters, Gail (Harland) Stone of Hurley, Mary Fleming of Gile, Wisconsin, and Paula (Robert) Sellhausen of Kimball, Wisconsin; 10 wonderful grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley in the spring.
