Hurley - "Frosty Nights" on Saturday did not disappoint the more than 150 guests who attended the annual gala event of the Klassic Kruisers, a regional classic automobile club.

Couples danced the night away in the decorated banquet space of the Iron County Memorial Building. The room was buzzing with conversation and visits to the various raffle items.

"It's our largest fundraiser of the year," said Gail Samson, president of the Klassic Kruizers. "It's been very successful."

The event moved to the Memorial Building three years ago after outgrowing space provided at the Knights of Columbus Hall, she said. Proceeds from the gala benefit the club while bar sales went to support the Memorial building, she said.

The event is important for the nonprofit Klassic Kruisers to help maintain its scholarship at Gogebic Community College, and to distribute funds to various charities and community events.

"We donate our moneys out because we're a nonprofit," Samson said.

The catered evening included live music from the FLASHBACK. There were 50/50 tickets and three door prizes including $200 cash, along with $50 and $25 gas cards. There were also dozens of raffle items that spanned the length of the banquet hall.

The prizes were sponsored by area businesses or donated by club members from around the region.

"The community really supports us," Samson said.

The next event for the Klassic Kruizers will be the Kickoff Cruise on the first Wednesday in June. The event will include a mini car show.

The summer cruises continue the first Wednesday of the month through September. Each event is a cruise to an area destination.

The club also conducts nursing home tours to show residents of care facilities the very cars they grew up with in their youth. The club also helps organize the car show for the annual Bessemer Pumpkinfest.

Other fundraising events include the annual pancake breakfast. For more information find the club's page on Facebook.
