Billi C. (Galarno) Tauer

HURLEY, Wis. - Billi C. (Galarno) Tauer, 67, a longtime resident of Hurley, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 5, 2020.

Billi was born on June 23, 1952, in Ashland, a daughter of Bill and Charlotte (Youngs) Galarno of Gurney.

On Dec. 22, 1970, she married the love of her life, David A. Tauer.

Through the years, Billi was a bartender in Hurley where she and her husband owned several small businesses, North Pole Bar and Wee BAD Tavern. She was employed by various road construction companies as a flagger. Most of all, Billi cherished being a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

She looked forward to spending special time with her children, grandchildren, family and dogs, Tia and Foxie (passed Scooter and Tazz). Her favorite pastimes were walking along the shores of Lake Superior picking agates and camping during the summer months and doing various woodworking crafts with her husband throughout the winter. She was an active and supportive auxiliary member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 529.

Billi is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Kyle) Thompson and Randi (Jesse) Jackson; a son, Jereme (Brenda); four dear grandchildren, Anthony (Ashley) Thompson, Kyle Thompson Jr., Serena and Jereme Jr .; two precious great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Austin; her daughter-in-law, Deb (Chris) Shepro; her parents, Bill and Charlotte Galarno; five sisters, Vicky (Larry) Harris, Babe Soffiette, Debbie Galarno, Cindy (Rick) LaFortune and Denise (Jeff) Sprangers; three brothers, Randy (Diane) Galarno, Richard (Carri) Galarno and Bill (Barbie) Galarno Jr .; three sisters-in-law, Mary Tauer, Terry (Mark) Soine and Christine Tauer; six brothers-in-law, Joseph Tauer, James Tauer, Charles Tauer, Michael Tauer, Roman (Kathy) Tauer and Walter (Stacey) Tauer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David, on Oct. 19, 2016; a son, Jonathan; a granddaughter, Bree Tauer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Leona Tauer; her brother-in-law, John Tauer; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Tauer and Gladys Tauer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation at 11:30 a.m., at the Kimball Community Center, 5708 W. Center Drive, in Hurley.

Luncheon will be served following the service.
