Leola Irene 'Ducky' (Dalbeck) Cook

MERRIWEATHER, Mich. - Leola Irene "Ducky" (Dalbeck) Cook, 82, a longtime resident of Merriweather, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

Leola was born on May 8, 1937, in Wakefield, a daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Minier) Dalbeck. She graduated from Bergland High School.

On Feb. 20, 1954, Leola was united in marriage to Lloyd L. "John" Cook Jr. in Wakefield.

For many years, she was a paramedic at Beacon Ambulance in Ironwood.

Her hobbies were camping, gardening, plaster craft, beadwork and traveling.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ducky is survived by eight children, Bettie Myers, Clarence Cook (Jean Marczak), Candace (Terry) Lundwall, Clifford (Penny) Cook, Bonnie (Jack) Netzel, Brian Cook (Joanna Johnson), Crystal Heil (Dave Stofflet) and Cara Cook; 41 cherished grandchildren; 43 precious great-grandchildren; 12 dear great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Waurio and Mary (Mike) Wendell; a brother, Mike Pikka; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Dalbeck and Marie Hebert; a brother-in-law, William Cook Sr .; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence Dalbeck and Elizabeth and Wilbert Pikka; her beloved husband, Lloyd Jr., on Feb. 24, 2003; a grandson, Brian Cook Jr .; two daughters-in-law, Karen Cook and Rosemary Cook; her son-in-law, Mike Weber; two sisters, Genavieve Nurmi and Clarice Sailer; two brothers, Dalbert Dalbeck and Gary Dalbeck; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bertha and Lloyd R. Cook Sr .; and many other loving relatives.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam Blvd., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.

A committal service and interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Bergland, in the spring.
