Cecilia Stanczak

HURLEY, Wis. — Cecilia Stanczak, 92, a life-long resident of Ironwood, Michigan, passed away on March 11, 2020, at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Hurley, surrounded by her family.

Cecilia was born on March 10, 1928, in Ironwood. She attended Ironwood schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. She worked at various factories sewing sportswear.

She married Leo Stanczak on July 7, 1951, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Cecilia was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She was an avid knitter and loved bingo and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; one brother; and four sisters.

Cecilia is survived by three sons, Leo Stanczak and William (Michelle) Stanczak, both of Ironwood, and Michael (Shirley) Stanczak of Pewaukee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sister, Claire Jordan of Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 21, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood at 11 a.m. with Fr. Binu Joseph as celebrant, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
