Bessemer - The city of Bessemer announced Wednesday that all city parks are open for public use, but the bathrooms and kitchens remain closed because of COIVD-19 guidelines.

Park goers are asked to wear a mask when one cannot maintain social distancing of 6 feet, bring hand sanitizer, wash their hands often, and clean up their garbage, according to a press release.

The city also asks that park goers not share personal sporting equipment with people outside their immediate family, unless it is sterilized between uses, the release said.

Group gatherings larger than 250 people are prohibited, according to the release.

The city does not have a plan for reopening the bathrooms or the kitchens, according to city manager Charly Loper. "It depends on the virus."

"The city of Bessemer does not have the staff capacity to sanitize any surfaces, so everything else is at your own risk," the release said.
