Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Lynn Marie Bloshenko Adams

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Lynn Marie Bloshenko Adams, 69, of Ironwood, passed away at Gogebic Medical Care Facility Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, with her husband, Dan, at her side after a battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor.

She was born Jan. 24, 1951, to Fred William and Violet Adeline (Anderson) Bloshenko in Ironwood. She attended A.L. Norrie School, graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1969 and received an Associate Degree in business from Gogebic Community College

Lynn married Daniel Adams on Sept. 1, 1973, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Polakowski, officiating. Their anniversary song was "Let me Call you Sweet Heart."

Lynn was quite proud of the flowers, vegetables, and the park-like setting she and Dan developed in town; and they gave many garden tours. They were quite generous and gave vegetables to friends and food pantries.

As a kid, she worked at Carlson's Supermarket downtown, and the Houghton City Police as a meter maid and matron and did some work for the Michigan State Police. She also worked for the Iron County Miner for 25 years and then the University of Wisconsin-Iron County for seven years as the horticulture contact. She loved researching gardening questions and many people called or stopped by her home for help, too.

Lynn was a Michigan and a Wisconsin Master Gardener for 20 years and facilitated many gardening programs at Iron County and at Gogebic Community College. She was a member of the Range Master Gardener volunteers for 19 years and the 46th Parallel Planters Garden Club and participated in garden tours.

She loved working with her Master Gardener friends, Kaye Johnson, Janet Chadderdon and Helen Slining, teaching children how to grow their own food and working with native seeds and doing some fun things like making terrariums. A person finds out who their friends are when there is a catastrophe and people call and want to help you out including Jeanne Walston, Connie Davey and Patty Carli Foley, who took care of the little "mean dog," Tsu-Lin.

One highlight was working with John Begalle and working hand-in-hand with the Corrections Crew at the Ironwood Pocket Park and at the Norrie Park Community Garden. I hope we made a difference. Also, it was wonderful working with Ian Shackleford, of the Ottawa National Forest, learning about all the native plants around the area, so she could share her knowledge with others, and she developed a CD. A thank you goes out to Sue Trull, also of the Ottawa National Forest, who helped ID plants.

Lynn and other Master Gardeners worked with many area children, first, at Norrie School and Norrie Park, Bessemer's Washington Elementary School, Wakefield, Watersmeet, and the Hurley School District and at local festivals.

Stoffels sponsored WJMS Garden Talk and that was a fun experience. Stoffels also gave us four Master Gardeners plenty of tomato plants for our projects.

Last, but not least is Tiffany Aho Piete. Lynn and Tiffany had a blast trying to learn Spanish at the Hurley school. Maybe that is why Natalie Patrittto retired.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Daniel Adams; her brother, David Bloshenko, of Cheney, Washington; nephews, Matthew of Spokane Valley, Washington, Myron and Annie Bloshenko of Neenah, Wisconsin, Gavin and Meadow, Brian Bloshenko and Tiffany of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Margot, and Matthijs, Sarah Madore and Aria of Colorado Springs, Colorado. There were many concerned cousins, Bernice Fagan, Delores Miller, Roberta Roshong and Pat Rye Foelker, Florida, and of course the little "mean dog," Tsu-Lin.

A thank you goes out to neurosurgeon, Dr. Terzic and his team at St. Mary's Duluth, Minnesota, and the Northwest Cancer Center Team at Ashland, Wisconsin - Dr. Boyle and his staff and Dr. Lalich and staff and the radiologist team for their care. We also want to thank Gogebic Medical Care Faculty and Northwest Wisconsin Cancer Center for their excellent care.

Dan took wonderful care of Lynn at home or she would not have lasted this long without him. He has turned into a very good cook and baker. Just don't ask him to make jello.

Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date for family only at her request.

In lieu of any flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Lynn's legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
