Rebecca 'Becky' Ivy Marvin

MANKATO, Minn. - On Aug. 1, 2020, Rebecca "Becky" Ivy Marvin, 73, left us unexpectedly to fly with the butterflies.

Becky was born on June 22, 1947, to Rudolph and Ida (Eilo) VanDerSchaegen. She graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley, Wisconsin, in 1965. She briefly attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, with a major in teaching.

On June 30, 1984, she married Bill Marvin, in Montreal, Wisconsin. They relocated to Waseca, Minnesota, for a job opportunity. Becky worked for several years at the local Walmart and was well known for her Halloween parties. After Bill and Becky had both retired, they made Ironwood, Michigan, their home. Last fall, Becky moved to Mankato to be with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Becky always had a passion for arts and crafts. Many would tell you she was an artist; her talent and skill knew no bounds. She shared her creativity with everyone through her beautiful cards, which never failed to delight. She loved to sing and dance, and you'd always find music playing in her home. There was nothing she loved more in life than spending time with her family, friends and her kitties. Becky was a gentle soul, and the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet.

Becky is survived by her daughter, Andie (Tim) Blowers of Amboy, Minnesota; cats: Pixie and Sheba; grandchildren, James (Chloe) Dempski of Waseca, Nikohl (Shawn) Bajula of Waseca, and Nathan Blowers of Blue Earth; sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Wilburn of Coon Rapids, Bobbie (Dan) Kangas of Ironwood, and Nancy (Jeff) Shaw of Elbow Lake; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Alfred; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She is preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; husband, Bill; son, Erik; and many fur babies.

A formal celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Family are currently holding a virtual celebration of life on Facebook titled, "Remembering Becky Marvin," please visit and share in the beautiful life of Becky. Condolence cards may be sent to Andie Blowers, P.O. Box 242, Amboy, MN 56010.
