David Emil Aimone

GILE, Wis. - David Emil Aimone, 75, of Gile, Wis., passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2020. He was born Jan. 11, 1945 in Ironwood, Michigan, son of the late Peter and Helmi (Koivisto) Aimone.

David was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Hurley High School. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. David was a fire chief and was known as the "Mayor of Gile". He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Salem Lutheran Church. David served on military funerals as a chaplain, and after his retirement he made sure that Gile and Montreal were kept clean and on holidays the flags were out.

He is survived by one brother, Peter (Louise) Aimone; three sisters, Mary Lou Bishop, Joanne (Jim) Murfey and Debra (Tom) Bruggner; and by best friends, Mark and Max Samardich.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two nephews, Brian Erspamer and Tim Bishop; one niece, Lori Cross; and by two brothers-in-law, Tom Bowman and Darryl Bishop.

Military graveside services will be held at a later date.
