Hurley — The Iron County Health Department released its latest two exposure sites Tuesday where people may have come in contact with someone who had COVID-19.

According to the announcement, the department can confirm there were positive cases at the Around the Corner Pub in Mercer on the evening of Aug. 27 and at the Antlers Pub in Mercer on the evenings of Aug. 26 and Aug. 27.

Other than “evening,” no times were listed in the health department’s announcement.

“If a person (who) tested positive for COVID-19 was out in public during their potential time of communicability and if the time spent there could have resulted in an exposure for others, then the health department lists this event or business to alert the public,” a health department spokesperson explained in the announcement. “This is not intended to lay blame on any local businesses, and this does not mean that the business must close.”

Those who were at either of the two establishments on the dates listed are asked to monitor their symptoms and, if symptoms develop, they are asked to isolate themselves and contact a physician.

Iron County has had 126 residents test positive for COVID-19 since the virus was detected locally in March, five of which have required hospitalization. Of the 126 positive cases, 104 cases are considered recovered.

In Michigan, Gogebic County had 134 positive cases and 10 probables as of Tuesday, according to state data. The data shows Ontonagon County as having 34 confirmed cases and one probable, as of Tuesday.

Health officials continue to urge people to wear masks in public, stay home as much as possible and limit travel, and practice social distancing.
