Francis 'Mickey' J. Perlich

ESCANABA, Mich. - Francis "Mickey" J. Perlich, 81, of Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.
He was born on May 30, 1939, in Ironwood, son of Frank and Grace (McDonald) Perlich. Mickey was raised in Bessemer, and graduated high school in 1957. He then joined the U.S. Army and served in France. He came home and went to Gogebic Community College (J.C.) before going on to earn his bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University.
He worked for many years for the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission until his retirement. Mickey then relocated to Escanaba where he started Remington Investigations and began his private detective business.
Mickey loved the outdoors and really enjoyed fishing and taught all of his nephews and nieces how to fly fish. He mostly enjoyed his time in the woods deer hunting. He always shared his venison with his sister, Kathy. He also was an avid sports fan and supported the Detroit Lions.
As an avid outdoorsman, Mickey, supported many outdoor organizations including the Escanaba River Association, Trout Unlimited, U.P. Whitetails, among others. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge 354 and is of Catholic faith.
Among survivors include his son, Frank "Frankie" Perlich of Escanaba; and his adopted children as his own, Tony, Richard, David and Suzanne Selliman; his loving sisters, Carolyn McCreary, Kathleen M. (Tom) Nutt and Louise (Dennis) Quirk; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his sister, Patricia Beck.
Services will be held at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba on Monday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m.
