Evelyn M. Baratone

MANITOWOC, Wis. - Evelyn M. Baratone, age 87, of Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 16, 2020 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc.

Evelyn was born on April 10, 1933, in Ironwood, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Esther (Makela) Peltonen. She was a graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. On Sept. 12, 1953, Evelyn married Eugene J. Baratone at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, Michigan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2020. She worked in Manitowoc at Woolworth's for 26 years, Food Country and Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Evelyn was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a current member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish. Evelyn, a woman of strong faith, enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crafting, knitting, socializing and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include her four daughters and three sons-in-law, Diane Radtke of Tucson, Arizona, Patti (Peter) Mueller of Merrill, Debra (Craig) Stuelke of Manitowoc, and Sue (Jim) Woepse of De Pere; eight grandchildren, Jenna (Marshall) DeCleene, Michael (Eileen) Mueller, Jeremy (Sarah) Radtke, Kendra (Jamie) Sampson, Alex (Brooke) Mueller, Rebecca Radtke and her fiancé Jake Johnson, Rachel (Nathan) Hulsey and Sam Stuelke; three great-grandchildren, Elsie Mueller, Lucas Radtke and Payton Sampson; two sisters-in-laws, Jean Peltonen and Cathy Peltonen; one brother-in-law, Jim Massa of Okemos, Michigan; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John (Esther) Peltonen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Helen Baratone; one son-in-law, Andy Radtke; three brothers and one sister-in-law, John Peltonen, Robert (Sue) Peltonen and William Peltonen; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Charles (Theresa) Baratone and Kathy Massa.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family memorial service has been held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish-Waldo Site in Manitowoc. The Rev. Doug LeCaptain celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment of her cremated remains at the Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
