Gary 'Inky' Engstrom

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Gary "Inky" Engstrom, of Ironwood, died Dec. 22, 2020.

A lifelong resident of Ironwood, he was born Nov. 20, 1946, to Wally and Belle (Wasley) Engstrom.

Heaven called down to Gary and said "It's time," taking him from us too soon.

Gary passed away from complications from COVID-19 in Wausau, Wisconsin.

He spent most of his working years at Lahti's Body Shop.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of 52 years, Rosalene (Rose) whom he met and married at Fort Hauchuca, Arizona, while both were still serving their country; his beloved son, Chad (Joette) of Neenah, Wisconin; his pride and joy grandchildren, Ryan, Allison, Leah, Jordan and Megan, all of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and brother, David (Carol) of Caledonia, Illinois. He also leaves behind his favorite niece and harasser, Vicki Spradling; and many, many friends.

Gary was met at Heaven's gates by his parents, Belle and Wally; oldest brother, Ronald; and favorite four-legged buddy, Toby.

Gary wished to be cremated without any visitation or funeral.

One of his last thoughts was to help the homeless veterans and others at the Warming Shelter in Oshkosh and the Iron Belle Trail, so a fundraiser has been set up for those organizations.

Every time you see a veterans please say "Thank you for serving." Every time you go walking, running, biking or skiing think of Gary along side! He always inspired people to be more active.

This man will definitely be missed by all who knew him. One life can make a difference.
