Loretta Marie (Gerovac) Schmitt

KAUKAUNA, Wis. — Loretta Marie Schmitt (nee Gerovac), age 77 of Kaukauna, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021.

She was born in Ironwood, Michigan, on April 30, 1943, to the late Nicholas and Mary (De Pretto) Gerovac. Loretta married Bernie Schmitt in Ironwood on April 22, 1964.

While still in Michigan she taught with the Women’s Job Corps Program. After that she worked as a business education teacher in Juneau, Wisconsin. Once they moved to Kaukauna, Loretta focused on raising her family.

Loretta lived a faith-filled life, and her relationship with the Lord was very important to her. She was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Kaukauna.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bernie; her beloved children, Gina (Drew) Baldacci of Winfield, Illinois, and Jeffrey (Janel) Schmitt of Elk River, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christopher (Meridian), Chiara and Cate Baldacci, and Titus, Samuel and Noah Schmitt; and her brother, James Gerovac of Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Loretta had many wonderful close friends and neighbors that walked with her through life. Please know that she loved and appreciated each of you.
