The Bessemer Speedboys became the first area Michigan team to start the basketball season Monday night by visiting Mercer for a non-conference game. The season started two months late because of restrictions in place in the state to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Shown above, Bessemer's Alex Church goes to the basket as Mercer's Devin Losh (15) and Josh Klopatek, right, defends. The Speedboys won 71-58. See sports for more on the game.
