Donald 'Dimps' Michael Smith

WAUSAU, Wis. - Donald "Dimps" Michael Smith, 70, of Hurley, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at the Wausau Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

Don was born on May 21, 1950, in Ironwood, Michigan, to the late Martha Helen Koski Smith and Wilbert Rudolph Smith. Don graduated from the J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1968.

Don loved Sherry, photography, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, reading newspapers, playing on his computer, watching old westerns, camping at the family farm, the Green Bay Packers and having coffee at the Midway with his buddies.

Don worked many places in his day, including Three Lakes Trucking out of Eagle River, Pestka Construction in Ontonagon, Michigan, and most recently for the town of Saxon.

Don is survived by his wife, Sherry Smith, of Hurley; Ronald and Nancy Smith of Fargo, North Dakota, and Ray and Donna Smith of Saxon; and many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; and brother, Gerald (Sonny) Newman.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date in the summer.
