Dennis John Kapets

GREENFIELD, Wis. - Dennis John Kapets, beloved husband, father and grandpa, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 28, 2021.

Dennis was born on Aug. 6,1942, in Ironwood, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Minnnesota-Moorhead with a degree in physical education. He married the love of his life, Nancy Retkowski, on Aug. 10, 1968. They celebrated 52 years together.

Dennis was the proud father of Kelly (Chris) Romine and Michael (Kay) Kapets. He was a hands-on dad and grandpa. He was adored by his grandchildren, Lauren and Addison Kelley, and Jayna, Elin and Kelsey Kapets; and stepgrandchildren, Noah, Annika and Annalise Romine.

Dennis loved and respected both kids and colleagues in the Sussex Hamilton School District, where he taught P.E. and coached JV football for many years. The students all loved and respected Mr. K., as well.

He was happiest fishing on Pardee Lake with his son and best friend, Mike. He loved woodworking, stained glass, cooking, and could build or fix anything. He was known for his sense of humor and was joking until the very end. He left an impression on everyone he met and will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Lucille Kapets; sisters, Pat Boyer and Kathy (Dick) Eklund; and brother-in-law, Ken Retkowski.

Dennis was further survived by sister, Bonnie (Danny) Minkin; close friends and extended family.

A private memorial for immediate family will occur at a later date.
