Hurley - The Iron County board of canvass met Friday to complete the canvass of local votes cast in Tuesday's election, formally certifying the results.

The three-person board reviewed the tally sheets for every ward in the county to ensure the filled out tally sheets accurately reflect the number of paper and electronic ballots cast.

The process largely confirmed the results initially reported Tuesday night, with the exception of Sharon Ofstad receiving a total of 163 votes in her write-in bid for a seat on the Hurley School Board after she gained a second vote in the town of Knight.

According to the results of the canvass, a total of 1,501 votes were cast in the race for the state superintendent of public instruction and a total of 1,317 votes were cast in the court of appeals race on the ballot.
