Raymond Edward LaMaide

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Raymond Edward LaMaide, 92, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Monday, May 3, 2021.

He was born on March 4, 1929, in Mellen, Wisconsin, a son of George and Helen (Vitek) LaMaide.

Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a private first class on June 7, 1952, and received the Army Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Campaign Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Raymond was employed by Patrick Spray Logging in Idaho. He retired in 1972.

Raymond was an accomplished accordion player and a talented carpenter. Uncle Ray enjoyed bluegill fishing, boat restoration and classic car projects.

He will be remembered most for kindness, generosity, unconditional love and devotion to the care of his mother, Helen.

Raymond is survived by two sisters-in-law, Sylvia LaMaide and Bonnie LaMaide, both of Wakefield; his brother-in-law, Pat Spray, Santa, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Gavin and Maxin; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Reuben Sell, Dulcie Spray and Rene Ann and Lloyd Hansen.

Rite of Committal will be held Friday, May 7, at 2:30 p.m., at the Marenisco Cemetery, with the Rev. Binu Joseph, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, presiding.

Full military honors will be accorded by the Marenisco American Legion Post 523, Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11 and Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 Honor Guard.

Interment will follow.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility and Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for their compassionate and professional care. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
