Robert F. Veeser

HANCOCK, Mich. - Robert F. Veeser, 95, of Hancock, passed away at the Omega House in Houghton on Monday, May 3, 2021.

He was born on April 14, 1926, in Iron River, to the late Henry J. and Ethel M. Veeser. He graduated from Iron River High School in 1943, later from Michigan State University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was employed at Upper Peninsula Power Company for 41 years, retiring as Western Division manager in 1990.

Bob married Yvonne M. Veeser at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone on Sept. 28, 1957. The couple recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary in 2020.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Hancock serving as a Knight of the Altar, Knights of Columbus, Alfred Erickson Post 186 American Legion serving as past commander, Copper Country Kiwanis Club serving as past president, Saint Vincent DePaul Society serving as treasurer for 28 years, Calumet Elks Club, and member of the board of governors of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity since 1976 where he served as past treasurer.

Besides his mother and father, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Antczak.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; three daughters: Mary (David) Lemanski of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Jane Hansen of Ripon, Wisconsin, and Nancy (Todd) Rennie of Janesville, Wisconsin; a sister, Ruth Bagdon Seurinck; a brother, John (Faye) Veeser; eight grandchildren, Casey Hansen, Terrence Hansen, Emily (Jacob) Galica, Kimberly Rennie, Christina Lemanski, Jessica Rennie, Elizabeth Rennie and Samantha Rennie; three great-granddaughters, Sophia Galica, Briar Hansen and Huntley Hansen; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7, with the Rev. Father William Ssozi to officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Friends may call at the church before the Mass on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society-Resurrection Conference or the Omega House in the name of Robert Veeser.
