Marlita Joy Everson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Marlita Joy Everson passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 85.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1936, to Steve and Marceil Filut in Milwaukee.

She graduated from Washington High School and went on to college. She worked at the YMCA where she met Neil Everson. On June 11, 1955, they eloped to Iowa City.

In 1970, they moved to the Upper Peninsula and started Everson Tool and Machine. She worked with her husband for 27 years.

Marlita enjoyed golfing and was a member of Gogebic Country Club and a past Club Champion. She also loved to ski at Indianhead and her yearly trips to Colorado.

She is survived by her husband, Neil; sons, Keith (Monica) Everson and Kevin (Laura) Everson; daughter, Karen (Chip) Mullineux; grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Reid, Jessica (Ed) Chicoski, Megan (Greg) Tzanoukakis, Chris Everson, Jared (Sonny) Reid, Elizabeth (Derek) Detampel, Ethan Everson and Adam Everson; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Reid, Paige Reid, Marlita Chicoski, Evelyn Chicoski, Colin Tzanoukakis, Emilia Tzanoukakis and another one due in November.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021.
