Excavating work continues on Wednesday for the roundabout construction project at U.S. 2 and U.S. 51 in Hurley. A manager with James Peterson Sons Inc. of Medford, Wisconsin, the project contractor for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, said the portion of the U.S. 51 bridge over the west bound lanes should be ready to come down sometime the week prior to the Fourth of July holiday. There may be some blasting of rock prior to the work. East and west traffic will flow on the former east bound lanes until until the other half of the bridge is ready to come down. The project is due to be completed in October.
