David 'Dave' LeRoy Beck

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - David "Dave" LeRoy Beck, 86, of Marshall, passed away on June 29, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1934, in Marshall, to Leo Roy and Berniece (Bristol) Beck.

Dave entered into the U.S. Navy on May 18, 1953, in Chicago, and was honorably discharged on May 16, 1957, in Long Beach, California. He attained the rank of DC 2 and was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He met June at Midway Roller Rink, knowing she was the one, they married on June 14, 1958. He started working at Kroger Grocery Store in Marshall, went to Indiana for a short while came back to Marshall and worked as a meat cutter at Felpausch Grocery Stores for more than 25 years. Dave worked at Stanley Meat Packing part time and he also processed deer. He loved to go ice fishing and fishing in general. He enjoyed hunting and spending summers camping at Lake Gogebic in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Dave was a sports fan, especially the Detroit pro teams.

David is survived by his wife, June Ann Beck; his daughters, Carmen LaGuardia of Michigan and Sherry (Craig) Evans of Michigan; his four grandchildren, Randall Bridge Jr., Andrea Bridge, Abigail Seifert and Michael Evans; his great-granddaughter, Jordyn Bridge; his grand dog, Scout; and great-grand dog, Alice. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kimberly Beck.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services at 723 U.S. 27 North in Marshall. Memorial services for Dave will take place at 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society or Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
