WAUSAU, Wis. - Delores Mayrene Raisanen, 89, of Ironwood Township, Michigan, passed away on June 29, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born in Winton, Minnesota, on Jan. 13, 1932, to Yalmer and Hilma (Rokola) Mattson.
Delores married Robert Raisanen at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Illinois, on Sept. 30, 1950.
She attended schools in Winton and Ely, Minnesota, and later in Ironwood, Michigan, at Roosevelt Grade School and Luther L. Wright High School, graduating in 1949.
She worked at National Envelope and a catering service in Waukegan. She was employed by Forslund Building Supply for 23 years, retiring in 1991.
During her life she was active in the Cub Scouts, PTA, and helped organize the Ironwood Township Fireman's Auxiliary, known as the Firebelles.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Ironwood Township, serving on the Stewardship, Fellowship and Memorial committees, was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) and held office on the Local, Zone, and District levels. She attended District and National LWML Conventions, serving as a delegate many times.
She was a volunteer with Regional Hospice, serving as volunteer coordinator for eight years.
Delores is survived by three sons, Dennis (Linda) Raisanen of Ironwood, Neil (Susan) Raisanen of Cape Coral, Florida, and Webster, Wisconsin, and Gregg (Suzanne) Raisanen of Alexandria, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Wendy (Danny) Kukanich of Eagle River, Derek (Paula) Raisanen of Hurley, Bethany (Paul) Stephen of Deer Park, Illinois, Sarah (Phil) Craig of St. Paul, Minnesota, John (Amy Batchelder) Raisanen of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Amber (Quincy) Backen of Jamestown, North Dakota, Jennie (Eric) Christians of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Abby (Scott) Blodgett of Fargo, North Dakota; 13 great-grandchildren, Brittany Raisanen of Naples, Florida, Jacob Stephen of Deer Park, Illinois, Joshua Stephen of Deer Park, Amelia Stephen of Deer Park, Kai Backen of Jamestown, North Dakota, Kale Backen of Jamestown, Oliver Craig of St. Paul, Minnesota, Alice Craig of St. Paul, Theodore (Teddy) Craig of St. Paul, Ellie Christians of West Fargo, North Dakota, Katie Christians of West Fargo, Will Christians of West Fargo, and Braxton Blodgett of Fargo, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Yalmer and Hilma; and brothers, Doug and Eldon.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, on July 21, at 11 a.m., preceded by a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.
