Regina Margaret McPherson

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Regina Margaret McPherson, 87, of Ironwood Township, passed away on July 5, 2021, at her home. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Regina was born on Jan. 14, 1934, in Mellen, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clayton H. and Theresa (Justice) Landry. She graduated from Mellen High School in 1952. After graduation, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and graduated in 1955 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Trinity Hospital as a surgical and obstetrics nurse. From 1974 to 1994, she worked at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wisconsin, in the Pediatrics and Medical-Surgical Department.

She married John Daniel McPherson Jr. on June 16, 1956, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

During her life, Regina was a member of the Ironwood Township Firebelles, Saxon Harbor Boating Club, Mellen Country Club, Range Art Association, St. Ann's Catholic Church, and Saxon American Legion Auxiliary.

She was lector and religious education teacher at St. Ann's Catholic Church and a Grand View Hospital volunteer.

Over the years Regina was an avid skier, golfer, artist and traveler. She also loved looking at Lake Superior sunsets from the deck of their home.

Regina is survived by her beloved husband, John; children, Dennis McPherson of Hurley, Wisconsin, Jean (Aaron) Johnson of Ironwood, Patrick (Meichin) McPherson of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Michael (Dawn) McPherson of Ironwood, and James (Cindy) McPherson of Sparta; and daughter-in-law, Kathy McPherson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Nicole, Clayton, Erin, Brittany, Matthew, Michael, Max, Tyler, Alexis, Trampus and Tiffany; sisters, Margaret Katka of Mellen, Kathleen (Jack) Kruzan of Highbridge, Wisconsin, and Mary Wise of Libby, Montana; and brothers, Joseph Landry, John (Candy) Landry, James Landry and Jeffrey (Debbie) Landry all of Mellen. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Taryn, Makinley, Elowyn, Everett, Hailey, Owen, Madeline, Daniel and Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Theresa Landry; son, Rodney McPherson; grandson, John McPherson; and sisters, Patsy and Betty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 22, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon, Wisconsin, at 11 a.m. with Father Frank Kordek OFM as celebrant. Prior to the Mass, the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow at the Saxon Community Center.

Interment will be in Mellen Union Cemetery in Mellen.
