IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Gloria J. Schlais, 72, of Ironwood, passed away at her home on Monday, July 12, 2021.
Gloria was born the daughter of Frank and Lucille (Jameson) Voldarski on Sept. 21, 1948, in Ontonagon. She was a 1966 graduate of Hancock High School. On May 22, 1987, Gloria was united in marriage with Gene Schlais at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley.
Gloria was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She loved reading, baking and gardening. Gloria enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and traveling with her husband around the U.S. visiting their children. Family was most important to Gloria.
Gloria managed the Secretary of State's office in Bessemer for 30 years, retiring in 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; two sons, Daniel (Angie) Gagnon of Salt Lake City, Utah, and David (Colleen) Haley of Jupiter, Florida; daughter, Susan Napolitano of Lincoln, Nebraska; two stepsons, Eugene (Chris) Schlais of Newport News, Virginia, and Joseph (Nichole) Schlais of Great Mills, Maryland; brother, Frank (Sue) Voldarski of Rochester, Minnesota; sister, Sharon (Rob) Davies of Wamego, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Corey, Amy, Sam, Leo, Lizzy, Landry and Noah. Gloria is further survived by other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, James; and her sister, Pat Olanketto.
A private family funeral service will take place at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home.
