Donald J. Stevens

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Donald J. Stevens, 77, of Watersmeet, beloved husband of 46 years to Sandra (Graff) Stevens, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Marquette General Hospital.

Don was born on Oct. 14, 1943, in a log home in Watersmeet, son of the late Ray and Eleanor Stevens. He graduated from Watersmeet High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as a sergeant in artillery in Vietnam.

He married Sandy on March 29, 1975, and they together raised their three sons, and later their two grandchildren following the tragic death of their son, Kevin.

Don was a logger by trade his entire career working for a few different companies, including owning and operating Stevens & Son Logging with his son, Kevin. He was an active member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, mowing the lawn, cutting wood, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; and two sons, Green Bay, Wisconsin, City Council member Craig Stevens and Brian Stevens, both of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Officer Kevin Stevens GBPD, and Breanna (Randy) Erickson of Ironwood; great-grandson, Carter Stevens-Johnson; along with several in-laws, including sister-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Ratliff; and other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Stevens.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 4, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Watersmeet Bible Church, 23640 U.S. 2, in Watersmeet. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church. Interment with full military honors will follow at Watersmeet Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Watersmeet Bible Church.
