Willard John Seeke

BESSEMER, Mich. - Willard John Seeke, 93, of Bessemer, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.

Willard was born on March 26, 1928, in Bessemer, the son of John V. and Ellen Johana (Carlson) Seeke. He attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1947.

On Dec. 3, 1949, Willard was united in marriage to Joyce Virginia Mars.

Will worked several different jobs until becoming a fireman for the city of Bessemer. He was the last regular fireman to retire before the city became an all-volunteer department. Will then became a realtor for J.W. Huss Incorporated in Ironwood for 18 years.

In retirement, Will and Joyce traveled around the entire country plus all of Canada and many foreign countries. They wintered at their home in Port Charlotte, Florida, for 25 years.

Will was fond of saying, "The difficult we do right away, the impossible takes a little longer."

Will and Joyce were both devoted to the Lord and he has been looking forward to his new beginning with the Lord. His prayer has been answered.

Will is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Deborra Seeke Bonovetz and husband, Joe, and Wanda Seeke Fisher and husband, Pat; two grandsons, Jonah and wife, Laura Bonovetz and Taylor and wife, Erin Bonovetz; five great-grandchildren, Bode, Chase, Broc, Samantha and Reagan; and a sister Nelda Seeke Lee and husband, Donald.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10:30 a.m., at the Assembly of God Church, 2100 E. Cloverland Drive, in Ironwood, with the Rev. Mark Ortman officiating.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with their arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
