Ironwood — The list of candidates for Ironwood City Commission includes four names and one current member is not running.

Mayor Annette Burchell is not running for reelection, according to the candidates list provided by city clerk Karen Gullan. The filing deadline was July 20.

Burchell was elected to the city commission in 2015 and will have served three full terms of two-years each as a city commissioner when she steps down in November. She served all six years as mayor.

“I’ve been honored and humbled to have served as Ironwood’s mayor for these past six years, and I look forward to continue working to strengthen our wonderful community in different ways,” Burchell said on Wednesday.

Current city commission members Joseph Cayer, Kim Corcoran, Jim Mildren and Rick Semo are running for reelection. Other candidates who will appear on the ballot include David Andresen, Nancy Korpela and Dan Wood.

A fourth candidate, Ryan Gobats, had 24 of the minimum 25 signatures required to qualify for the ballot. He has filed his intent to run as a write-in candidate with the Gogebic County Clerk’s office.

The nonpartisan city commission seats are elected at large with no specific districts. There is no primary election and the runoff in the general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, with winning candidates being sworn in prior to the Nov. 8 regular meeting.
