Linda (Bruno) Grossman

SOUTHBOUROUGH, Mass. - Linda (Bruno) Grossman, 72, of Southbourough, passed away on Sept. 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

Linda was born in Wakefield, Michigan, to Julia (Decur) Bruno and Peter Bruno. Linda was a sister to Darlene Bruno, Robert Bruno and Mick Bruno (Janet). Linda graduated from Wakefield High School then graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Marquette, Michigan, as an RN.

Linda and a group of her RN girlfriends decided to move to Boston to start their new careers. It is there that Linda met the love of her life, Howard "Hersh" Grossman. They moved to Florida where they were married in 1972. After a short stay in Florida, they then moved back to the Boston area where they made their home.

Linda and Hersh raised three amazing sons, Jeremy (Jill), Stephen (Heather) and Paul (Kate) who made her very proud in their accomplishments and especially to call herself "Grammie" to five incredible grandchildren: Noah, Leyla, Hannah, Dillion and Jackson.

Linda loved her job working as an RN at an allergy clinic for many years. Linda and Hersh enjoyed many vacations around the United States and abroad. An enormous enjoyment and love in life was her children and grandchildren, watching their youth activities and spending time with them, especially at their summer home at Cape Cod and on the beach.

Linda never left her roots behind. Over the years Linda risked many snowstorms to make sure she came back home to Wakefield to spend time with her family during the Christmas holidays and taking her children and grandchildren to grandma's house to experience the Italian traditions and Wakefield winters. She also came back many times with her children and grandchildren to the 4th of July celebrations.

In 2007, Linda was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma and was told she would live two, maybe five years. Linda's response to that was "we'll see about that." Linda fought a tough battle over 14 years and amazed all her doctors and proved all their predictions were wrong, time and time again. Linda remained positive through it all and was always a rock of strength for her family. Her presence and strength will be missed by many. May Linda's life be a blessing.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Peter A. Bruno; paternal grandparents, John Bruno and Mary (Bugni) Bruno; maternal grandparents, Dominic Decur and Mary (Bugni) Decur; and her maternal stepgrandfather, James Bugni.

Funeral services were held at Temple Beth Am in Framingham on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. Interment followed at Beit Olman Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial observances were held at the home of Jeremy and Jill Grossman in Newton on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.net.
