Arlington 'Arlie' James Higdon Sr.

BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. - In the late evening hours of Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, Arlie Higdon, of Bruce Crossing, died at the age of 82.

He was born in Nashville, Michigan, to John and Dorothy Higdon, both deceased.

At an early age, his ability and skills with engines led him to a life as an exceptional auto mechanic. His love of hunting and the outdoors brought him wonderful peace and joy, to say the least. He found comfort and tranquility when listening to bluegrass and folk music.

Arlie was very self-sufficient and always happy and willing to help others in need.

He loved to volunteer gun safety training for adults and youth alike, as well as concealed carry classes.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, John and George; and is survived by brothers, Jerry and Danny; and his sister, Carolyn.

Arlie is survived by his wife, Susan.

He was a school of hard knocks kind of dad, which strengthened each of his children's character and wisdom.

John, Jim, Deidre, Bobby (deceased), Joe and Bill all have memories to cherish the rest of their lives.

He is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. EDT, preceded by visitation at 2 p.m. EDT, at the Bruce Crossing Bible Church, 15089 Maplewood Road, in Bruce Crossing, with the Rev. Aaron Grefer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, loving memorial contributions can be sent to the Bruce Crossing Bible Church, P.O. Box 161, Bruce Crossing, MI 49912.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with their arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
