Hurley - The Hurley Craft Fair experienced a good turnout at theHurley K-12 School on Saturday. The event included food and refreshments, a performance by the Silver Express, free balloon twisting and face painting and a visit from Santa Claus.

The fair has been going on for more than 20 years and occurs every Saturday before Thanksgiving. The event was sponsored by the Hurley Booster Club and raised money for the school's athletic programs.

More than 40 vendors came to the craft fair to sell their wares. Most of them were local, but some were from southern Wisconsin. All the vendors paid a one-time fee of $20 to set up their tables at the fair and the proceeds went directly to the school booster club.

There was live music at the event as Hurley High School's Silver Express choir performed in the school auditorium at noon during the craft fair.

The event also featured free entertainment provided by Cheryl and Tim Cunico of Fun E Business in Pence. Younger attendees and their parents lined up in the school gymnasium for free face painting and balloon twisting from the pair.

Santa Claus also arrived in the gymnasium in the afternoon. Children formed a line to sit in Saint Nick's lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. Underneath the great white beard was Chris Kelly, a social studies teacher at the Hurley School District.

There was also 50/50 raffle drawing at the fair with half of the proceeds going to the booster club. New clothes with the Hurley Northstars logo on them were also available for purchase.
