David E. Sass

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — David E. Sass, 65, died on Nov. 30, 2021, at the Halifax Hospice Center in Ormond Beach. He was born on Oct. 4, 1956, in Detroit, the son of Elmer H. Sass and Nancy D. Jones, who both preceded him in death.

David graduated from Edina West High School in Edina, Minnesota with the class of 1975. He then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and psychology in the class of 1979.

He married his wife, Vicky L. Belanger, in August 1978, and they settled in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to complete their college education. In addition to Wisconsin, David and Vicky also lived in Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Georgia and Iowa at various points in their lives. They recently celebrated 43 years of marriage at their home in Ormond Beach.

David built his professional career of 40 years in the Information Technology sector with his expertise in business development and marketing. He traveled the world working for IBM, DSI, EMC, and W.R. Berkley, to name a few.

A classical music and jazz enthusiast, David was also a skilled composer and pianist; a passion he passed on to his children and piano students over the years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Vicky, are his sons, Andrew Sass (Deven Cao) and Michael Sass (Cathryn); and three grandchildren, Peter, Daniel and Clara.

He is also survived by a sister, Nancy Koole (Jim); a brother, Gary Sass (Diane); and another sister, Dorothy Saari (Greg); along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service and luncheon will be held at a later date.
