J. Hamilton Hazen

WATERSMEET, Mich. — J. Hamilton Hazen, 72, passed away at his home in Watersmeet on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022.

He was born Sept. 26, 1949, to Jack and Margaret (Brunk) Hazen.

J. lived and worked for the Lac Vieux Desert Tribe. He was a well-loved and a caring man. J. was highly respected in the community. He will be loved and missed always and forever.

J. is survived by his wife, Loretta Hazen; brother, and Robert (Bonnie) Hazen of Bruce Crossing; sister, Margaret (William) Haapala of Bruce Crossing; daughters, Misty Rodriquez and Lisa (Donald) Bortz; five grandchildren, Breanna, Dakota, Addison, Haley and Laurel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Brunk) Hazen; father, Jack Hazen; brothers, Jack Hazen, Patrick Hazen, Franklin Hazen, Mike Hazen Sr. and Leroy Hazen; and sister, Roberta (Hazen) Blair.

A wake was held on Sunday, Jan. 9, at the LVD Spiritual Center in Watersmeet. Funeral services took place on Monday at the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Watersmeet.

Burial will take place in the Watersmeet Township Cemetery in spring 2022.
