Thor Livingston Wiita

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Thor Livingston Wiita, 41, of Wakefield. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, with his mom and other family members at his side.

Thor was born on Sept. 15, 1980, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, the son of Michael and Kathy (Bundy) Wiita. He attended A.D.Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1999.

After high school, Thor was employed for 17 years at Highline Corporation in Hurley, Wisconsin. He looked forward to taking the little blue bus to work everyday.

Thor was a dedicated member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, its men's club and "God's work - Our hands" ministry. He was a faithful member of Gather Participate and Support and was an annual participant in the Walk-A-Mile in my shoes.

Thor resided at the Lakeshore Group Home in Wakefield, where he received excellent care. His housemates and caregivers were important to him.

Thor was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all things outdoors. He was able to cut grass and blow snow using his motor chair.

Thor had a very special relationship with all of his aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all.

He was predeceased by his dad, Mike, on Dec. 19, 2021; his grandparents, Donald and Viola Wiita, Kenneth Bundy and Beverly Padley; and an uncle, Kevin Padley.

Thor is survived by his amazing mother, Kathy Bundy; five uncles, Donnie, Tom and Gerry Witta, Keith Padley and Sam (Tina) Bundy; seven aunts, Judith Ruditis, Kathryn (Dwayne) Witta-Fisk, Peggy (John) Garvey, Nancy (Jim) Clowney, Amy (Mike) Rahko, Vicky Wiita-Templer and Kim (Ron) Thompson; his dad's wife, Sharon Wiita; numerous cousins; his co-workers; and countless friends.

A memorial service for Thor and his dad, Mike, will be held Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m., preceded by visitation at 2 p.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Kay S. Richter officiating.

A committal service and interment will take place at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.

A luncheon will be served at the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084, 107 E. U.S. 2, following the cemetery service.

A special thank you to the emergency room staff at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital and the amazing second floor nursing staff, especially Naomi, Theresa and Amy.
