Pauline M. Salmi

IRONWOOD, Mich. – Pauline M. Salmi, 76, of Ironwood, beloved friend of Marty McKay, passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pauline was born on May 30, 1945, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Marian (Johnson) Martinkoski. She graduated from Bergland High School and earned her degree from Gogebic Community College.

She worked at many jobs, but she loved her last one for the UPHP driving medical clients to their appointments. She loved the company and the conversations. She enjoyed being surrounded by all her family and friends, and loved to have fun and laugh. Pauline was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

Pauline brightened up every room with her love, kindness and joy. She loved the Upper Peninsula and her Finnish heritage. We will miss her, and she will be in our hearts forever.

A special thanks to Marty, Avanti Hospice, and all the workers for the kind care given to Pauline.

Memorials can be given to HOPE Animal Shelter in Ironwood, in honor of her cat, Garfield.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Pauline's legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
