Crystal Marie Buccanero

HURLEY, Wis. - Crystal Marie Buccanero, 37, of Hurley, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.

Crystal was born on Sept. 24, 1984, in Ironwood, Michigan. She attended Luther L. Wright High School and graduated in 2002. Crystal continued her education at Gogebic Community College and graduated from their cosmetology program with the class of 2004.

On July 14, 2012, Crystal was united in marriage to the love of her life, Brad Buccanero, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. They were blessed with a daughter.

She owned and operated a barber shop in Ironwood and more recently was employed at All Saints Catholic Academy in their daycare program. Crystal cherished the children she cared for at the daycare, referring to them as "her babies."

Crystal and Brad were foster parents to many, but most of all she treasured being surrounded by her family. Crystal was the most generous, caring and kind person and never missed an opportunity to help celebrate holidays or birthdays with family.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time at the beagle club with her dad and brother. Crystal volunteered at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley teaching CCD or helping with various fundraisers, where her generosity and kindness shown through the most.

Crystal is survived by her loving husband, Brad; a precious daughter, Whitney; her dad, Terry (Stephanie) Hannu; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bruce and Theresa Buccanero; a brother, Zachary Hannu; her stepsiblings, Kari (Stephen) Deadman, Kelly (Adam) Casperson, Ashley Maxey and Ryan (Alicia) Maxey; her sister-in-law, Allyson Buccanero (Tim); her grandmothers, Laurie Juopperi and Lorraine Brown; her grandfather, Eugene (Judy) Hannu; numerous aunts and uncles, Paula and John Windt, and their children, Ashley (J.R.), Kayla (Caleb) and Dillon (Shiann); Rick and Toni Moren, and their children, Kim (Dan) and Melissa (Joe); and Brenda and Marty Rose, and their daughter, Taylor; many additional aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins from her extended family; and countless friends too numerous to list.

She was predeceased by her mother and best friend, Patricia Hannu; her father, Dennis Semo; her grandparents, Jerry and Joyce Moren; her great-grandma and great-grandpa Moren; an uncle, Fred Fanning; her grandparents-in-law, Barbara and Ray Buccanero and Roger Juopperi; and an aunt, Sharon Juopperi-Dasko.

Crystal will be forever missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation will take place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 404 Iron St., in Hurley, with the Rev. Hrudaya Raju Sunkara, celebrant.

A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township, Michigan, in the spring.
