IRONWOOD, Mich. - Paul David Hultquist passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 3, 2022, after an extended battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

He was born in Detroit on May 15, 1960. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1979. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was in charge of provisioning on the USS Greenling submarine for four years during the Mideast War.

When he returned from his service in the U.S. Navy, he took a position in logistics and supplies at the University of Michigan Medical Center where he worked for 33 years.

Paul retired from his position shortly after his 55th birthday and moved to the Upper Peninsula in Ironwood, where he enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling, and hiking. He also had a love for dogs. First was Buck, a black lab, followed by Duke, a yellow lab. These dogs were his constant companions.

Paul was the son of Aline and Harold Hultquist with whom he lived with most of his adult life providing care and companionship to them during their senior years.

Paul is survived by his siblings, Harold Hultquist Jr., Littleton, Colorado; Karl Hultquist, Winterport, Maine; Linda Norris, Conway, South Carolina; and Judy Baker, Orlando, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the ALS Organization that provides care for patients and families dealing with ALS and needed research to find a cure for this disease.
