Evert Edward Nasi

March 16, 2022

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Evert Edward Nasi, 75, passed away peacefully in his home in Ironwood with his family by his side on March 10, 2022.

Evert was born to the late Evert and Ruth Saari in Kimball, Wisconsin, on Nov. 20, 1946.

He worked as a postal worker, at the White Pine mine, and the majority of his career as an estimator for a large construction company. He tirelessly and passionately worked long hours that were instrumental in building the company. Many of the buildings in the area were touched by his hard working hands. He spent most of his life in Ironwood, Michigan, where he would volunteer to help the community.

Evert was blessed with a loving family who he cared for deeply. He married Janice Pawlak on April 8, 1967. They were married for 54 years at his passing. Evert helped raise his two daughters whom he was devoted to — Jodi Nasi and Jami (Nasi) Crocker. He instilled a hard work ethic, honesty, humility and kindness by example. A true example of the Finnish word “sisu.”

Evert was known as an honest, trustworthy, kind and gentle man, and was well respected. He had a love of fishing and was a superior outdoorsman and craftsman. He shared a love of fishing with his close friends, Sheldon and Butchy. If anything needed to be fixed, he was your guy. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

Evert is survived by his wife, Janice Nasi; daughters, Jodi Nasi and Jami (Nasi) Crocker; sisters, Cynthia Wilson and Linda Tilton; and grandsons, Jeremiah Schwartz, Jacob Doolittle and Joseph Doolittle. Evert loved his dog, Baxter.

There will be no official funeral. We will have a celebration of life at his home.
